Adelaide Central Market is gearing up for an exciting Easter week with extended opening hours, free activities, live music, and an abundance of fresh produce and traditional Easter treats arriving daily.
According to Fabienne Reilly, General Manager of Adelaide Central Market Authority, the Market’s 70 traders are ready for a busy week of trading and a buzzing atmosphere. “The Market has everything you need for Easter, with a huge range of fruit and veg and fresh produce arriving every day. Our fishmongers are fully stocked with whole fish, prawns, and oysters from SA waters, our bakeries have a huge range of hot cross buns and pastries, and of course, there are plenty of sweet treats and Easter gifts available,” Ms. Reilly said.
Adelaide Central Market’s fishmongers are also gearing up for Easter trade, with the newest addition Fair Seafood excited to share their sustainable and traceable product with Adelaide shoppers. Amanda Prance, Fair Seafood Co-Owner, says they will be offering all the Easter favourites, with 100% traceability from fisher-to-consumer – an Australian first. “Shoppers can know where, when, how and by whom it was caught and even more importantly, when and how it was processed. Alongside the traditional favourites, Fair Seafood are expecting some of their more unique products to start making appearances at Easter tables, including their dry-aged fish,” said Prance.
The Market’s network of fruit and vegetable traders will also be offering the freshest local produce, including, of course, carrots for the Easter bunny. Freshly baked hot cross buns will be in high demand from Dough and Skala Artisan Bakers with more than 40,000 hot cross buns being made in the leadup to the weekend.
Traditional handmade sugar eggs and marshmallow rabbits from The Old Lolly Shop and customer favourites like chocolate bunnies from The Adelaide Nut have returned. Alternative Easter treats will also be available, including vegan chocolate Easter eggs, gluten-free and paleo hot cross buns, and raw treats from traders such as House of Health and Jamu.
In the lead-up to Easter, customers can enjoy free face painting and kids craft workshops, the popular kid’s Easter trail (bookings essential), live music, and on Thursday 28th March $10 gift cards will be up for grabs with a $100 spend in Market from 3:00 pm. Saturday shoppers can also enjoy three hours free parking at UPark Grote and UPark Andrew when they validate their ticket at The Market Stall during Market Hours.
For those who can’t make it to the Market, home delivery will be available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of Easter week, and Click & Collect on Gouger Street will be available Easter Thursday afternoon.
