Adelaide’s newest late-night haunt, Bar 1854, promises to take guests on an adventure around the world, bringing world-class drinks and tasty small plates in an intimate setting.
Located on the upper floor of Unley’s The Cremorne Hotel, Bar 1854 honours the building’s rich history, dating back to 1854 when the hotel first began serving drinks.
Sophisticated and oozing old-world charm with a modern, playful twist, the cosy, speakeasy-style bar seats 30 people and is the perfect spot for those who enjoy fine spirits, craft cocktails, and rare Champagne.
A chance to escape the city for cocktail hour, aperitivo, light dining, and late-night drinks, Bar 1854 Host and Venue Manager, Grace Kelliher, says there’s nothing like it in Adelaide.
“[Bar 1854] blends the best of Paris, New York, Melbourne, and Tokyo to create a truly unique experience for Adelaide,” Grace says. “It’s a place to have fun, enjoy personalised service, and try a rotating selection of rare, aged, and handcrafted drinks.”
The menu, designed by Beverage Director, Rashesh Shrestha, includes signature cocktails, rare Japanese whiskies, vintage Champagne, and a martini tray that Grace will serve directly to guests’ tables. Small plates from Executive Chef, Brendan Boothroyd, feature treats like Coffin Bay oysters, Kaviari Caviar Oscietra Prestige, and brie and kimchi toasties – perfect for late-night snacking.
With a stylish and playful interior designed by Zoe Hilton, the bar features elegant, eclectic décor, including custom wallpaper imported from House of Hackney in London. The space is also adorned with furniture and artwork by Australian artist Tan Arlidge and French artist Guillaume Chiron.
Bar 1854 opens on Friday, 22 November and is located at Level 1, 207 Unley Road. Open Thursday to Saturday, from 4pm until late.
