Erik Thomson will entertain with stories from his wide-ranging career, from early days in New Zealand on Hades in Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princess, through to All Saints, Packed to the Rafters, and 800 Words. Erik has made a name for himself as one of Australasia’s best loved actors and this is a rare chance to hear behind the scenes stories and get a sneak peek into the magic of making movies and tv.
He’ll share insights into his process as an actor, and anecdotes from behind the scenes of his favourite characters, including Easton West in Adelaide series Aftertaste, which he also co-produced.
With plenty of audience interaction, the event is a must-attend, whether you’re an emerging filmmaker, a cinema lover or one of Erik’s many fans.
The Mercury bar will open from 5pm for a complimentary drink on arrival, thanks to sponsor Uraidla Brewery.
Proceeds from the evening will go towards The Mercury’s programs for emerging filmmakers, supporting the next generation of South Australian talent. A filmmaker-run, community focussed, not-for-profit cinema, The Mercury is a unique film organisation that combines big screen experiences with filmmaking opportunities. The much-loved Silverscreen program runs Tuesdays, Fridays and Sunday afternoons, and offers a complimentary cup of tea and a chat alongside the best in contemporary local and world cinema. Upcoming sessions include In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon screening 2 & 12 July, and Cesar winning The Three Musketeers Parts 1 & 2 later in the month.
The only subscription-based cinema in Australia, The Mercury offers access to unlimited cinema screenings, filmmaking workshops, facilities and equipment, all for just $25/month.
