Be swept into another realm this winter as Illuminate Adelaide unveils its first major announcement for 2025—a jaw-dropping new centrepiece experience titled Night Visions.
Running from 2 to 20 July 2025, this self-guided, multi-sensory trail will transform the beloved Adelaide Botanic Garden into a spectacular world of light, sound, and wonder. Designed exclusively for Illuminate Adelaide, Night Visions invites visitors to walk through a dreamlike portal of parallel dimensions, created by a team of world-class artists using cutting-edge light, laser, projection and audio technology.
From Ficus Avenue to the Bicentennial Conservatory, familiar paths will morph into surreal and immersive environments under the creative direction of an all-star team, including international and local luminaries like Amelia Kosminsky, Robin Fox, Craig Walsh, Jayden Sutherland, and Chris Petridis, with a powerful soundscape by award-winning composer Jethro Woodward.
“For our milestone fifth year, we wanted to headline the program with an after-dark adventure that not only takes visitors on an emotional and sensory journey but transports them into parallel realms,” says Illuminate Adelaide Co-founders and Creative Directors, Lee Cumberlidge and Rachael Azzopardi.
“We have brought together the unique talents of six visionary artists to create a series of immersive, ‘other worldly’ environments across the garden using thousands of lights, lasers, projections and sound.”
Tree canopies will be transformed into evocative living monuments, walkways will become atmospheric gateways pulsing with colour and sound, and the Bicentennial Conservatory will burst with an array of cutting-edge laser and sound technology.
The event builds on past successes like Light Cycles, Resonate, and last year’s sold-out Fire Gardens, offering an awe-inspiring winter’s evening perfect for families, friends and groups of all ages.
And for those wanting to elevate the experience even further, Night Visions guests can opt for a ticketed dining package at The Botanic Lodge, a lakeside pop-up restaurant within the garden grounds. Serving a specially curated seasonal menu and available Friday to Sunday, this intimate culinary experience is perfectly timed to complement the event.
The full 2025 Illuminate Adelaide program will be unveiled on 29 April.
