Dutch pianist Joep Beving brings acclaimed Hermetism tour to Adelaide’s Her Majesty’s Theatre

Dutch pianist Joep Beving, one of the most streamed living pianists globally, will bring the Australian premiere of his acclaimed Hermetism live show to Adelaide’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on Thursday 18 July – tickets on sale now.

★★★★ “Delicate melodies tap into something deep and universal” – Sydney Morning Herald

“A remarkable performance” – Theatre Travels

Adelaide Festival Centre in association with Illuminate Adelaide proudly present this Adelaide performance, as the first stop in Joep’s biggest Australian tour yet – with shows also at Brisbane Powerhouse, Sydney Opera House, Canberra Theatre Centre and Melbourne Recital Centre this July.

After self-releasing his debut album Solipsism in 2015, Beving became a viral streaming sensation. His music has since been streamed over half a billion times, and he has performed sold-out shows around the globe.

Renowned for his minimalist style and profound connection with the piano, his latest album, Hermetism, invites listeners into a meditative exploration of music’s ability to reflect the universal laws of nature and the interconnectedness of existence.

The accompanying live show, intricately crafted with the artistic vision of Boris Acket, weaves together deeply evocative piano melodies with captivating, dynamic light installations.

Joep Beving says, “I am very excited to be returning to Australia finally, this coming July! I played my last show down under in March 2020, moments before the lockdown. There was a zebra on stage that night in Adelaide. I realise this will be difficult to top. But we’ll do our best by bringing a beautiful light installation designed by artist Boris Acket especially for the show. I’m so looking forward sharing this experience with my Aussie audience and hope to see some familiar and new faces!”

Adelaide Festival Centre Executive Producer Sarah Bleby says, “Joep Beving is such a stirring artist! We’re so excited to bring this exquisite combination of light, shade and deeply affecting music to Her Majesty’s Theatre with our partners Illuminate Adelaide.”

Illuminate Adelaide’s Co-Founders and Creative Directors, Rachael Azzopardi and Lee Cumberlidge says, “This towering Amsterdammer is truly part of a whole new wave of classical composers, changing the face of the genre and opening it up to a fresh collection of fans”.

A testament to the power of artistic collaboration, this groundbreaking performance redefines the boundaries of traditional musical performances, creating a space where music and visual art converge to spark wonder and introspection.
