Eastertide: Passions and Sorrows II

A woman in a yellow dress passionately sings in front of a full orchestra, captivating the audience with her performance.
Adelaide Baroque’s first orchestral concert for 2025 invites you to immerse yourself in a moving collection of music inspired by the Passion of Christ.

Following last year’s successful collaboration with soprano Emma Horwood, which featured both hidden Baroque gems and beloved masterpieces such as selections from Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater, Handel’s Brockes-Passion, and Messiah, now brings you a fresh program for this year’s Eastertide.

This time, the exceptional talent of U.S. tenor Kyle Stegall, joined by the sounds of Handel, Vivaldi, Bach, Purcell, and Biber will feature. Also performing is Sydney’s Michaela Oberg, renowned for her mastery of the baroque flute and recorder. Set against the stunning acoustics of St John’s Halifax Street and the intimate Top House at Coriole Winery, this concert promises to be a powerful and emotional experience.

“Stegall’s ethereal timbre shimmered, his refined singing heightened the consequence of the words.”Voix-des-arts

Since its inception in 1977, Adelaide Baroque has delighted audiences with a range of Baroque music, both in Adelaide and internationally. The ensemble’s innovative and varied programs draw from the vast repertoire of 17th and 18th-century European music, as well as contemporary works from Australian composers.
