Shore Break is a must-see meditative solo theatre work

Shore Break is raw, powerful and evocative storytelling of a hardened man’s emotional unravelling of hope.

Shore Break is grass-roots, authentic story-telling. Raw and poetic, it addresses the search for human connection and meaning, in a life filled with rejection and regret and exposes the vulnerability of masculinity through a tour de force performance and sharp writing.

Poetic, gut-wrenching, and electric, this solo work is about an isolated, hardened man looking to the ocean for answers. As the waves break, he sits with his surfboard, observing the water. He remembers moments shared with people. Laughs. But is alone. Just him, the surf, and memories of a distant time, giving comfort, causing pain.

Shore Break received 5-star reviews and standing ovations for its initial 2023 showcase season:

★★★★★ “The performance and script by Chris Pitman are a tour de force, and the standing ovation well-deserved after this marathon of a monologue. The direction by Chelsea Griffith is subtle and uncluttered. A compelling and quintessentially Australian theatre piece with universal appeal, this powerful play is an important addition to our understanding of ourselves and our own contribution to this world.” The Clothesline

“Shore Break is a beautifully crafted, poignant and a thought-provoking piece of theatre that showcases Pitman’s storytelling power. I implore you, do not miss it.” Lia Loves

“It is with utter conviction that I urge you to see this work.” Stage Whispers
