Bach and Handel: Orchestral Series 4 | Adelaide Baroque
Location
- 16 Nov 24
What greater way to celebrate the joy of music than with two of the most popular masterworks from two of the greatest of Baroque composers:
Handel’s “Ode for St Cecilia’s Day”, HWV 76 and Bach’s Cantata “Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen”, BWV 51 in the glorious acoustics of St Peter’s Cathedral.
St Cecilia was born in 180 AD. and is known as the patron saint of music and musicians, with her Feast Day commemorating her life and death on 22 November. Handel’s Ode takes the poem of John Dryden of 1687 and sets it in exuberant and joyful creativity.
