From 4-6pm the Madame Hanoi team will be serving a selection of soft steamed buns from an exclusive Bao Bar menu, with a matched Vietnamese beer bucket that’s perfect for sharing.
The 2024 Bao Bar menu has been created by Madame Hanoi head chef, Sean Thomas, who joined SkyCity Adelaide in 2021. Sean’s inspiration for this year’s Bao Bar is the streets of South-East Asia, and it’s all about building your own experience.
Sean said: “We want to replicate a hot night in Asia where you buy a bucket of beer for the table, pick your favourite street food stalls, and build your own feast. “The showstopper for me is the dessert bao. Crispy fried bao, punchy coffee ice-cream, smothered in salted caramel, all for five bucks!”
Assemble your perfect banquet with three bao baskets to choose from, each filled with a variety of meats, condiments, and toppings. The Basic Bao Basket includes four buns ready to fill with crispy pork belly, popcorn cauliflower, and fried chicken for just $19. Step up to the Lil’ Bao Wow to add a fifth bun and sticky lemongrass chicken, or the Cardi Bao with one more bun and braised beef short rib.
Meat not your thing? Try the $19 Vegti-Bao basket featuring tofu, eggplant, and cauliflower, and a selection of toppings. Finish up with a decadent dessert bao featuring coffee ice cream and salted caramel served in a deep fried sweet bao bun.
If the bao bonanza leaves you thirsty, wash it all down with limited-time drink specials. Share a bucket of beer (four cans of Bia Ha Noi or Saigon Special) for just $20 or take advantage of Madame Hanoi’s famous happy hour with a special $15 cocktail menu and select beers for only $6.
Visiting the rest of the SkyCity precinct? From Monday 19 February, the North Terrace entrance to SkyCity has been closed, with all pedestrian access now via the re-opened Heritage Entrance or Festival Plaza entrances on Station Road. Entrance to Madame Hanoi will continue to be via North Entrance.
