An initiative of Wellbeing SA, the newly established Better Health Coaching Service is a free, evidence based and confidential program linking eligible South Australians with a qualified health professional over the phone.
The health professional provides up to 10 free coaching calls across a six-month period, with the option of call frequency to be either weekly or fortnightly.
Each coaching call is tailored to each individual’s health and lifestyle goals. These coaching discussions include nutritional education, ways to increase physical activity, how to make healthier choices when food shopping and reduce alcohol intake.
The Better Heath Coaching Service is free to eligible South Australians aged between 18 and 74 years, with a BMI of 27 or more who are seeking support to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
South Australians can self-refer or be referred to the service by their GP or health professional by calling 1300 822 953. Referrals can be made online at the Better Health Coaching Service.
Wellbeing SA Interim Chief Executive, Marina Bowshall says “The Better Health Coaching service is one way South Australians can access support to work towards their health goals and make improvements to their wellbeing.”
