Spring into Wellbeing in the City of Adelaide

As the weather warms up, spring is the perfect time to reconnect with yourself and discover activities that are both fun and beneficial for your wellbeing.

This spring, the City of Adelaide is showcasing five actions proven to support health and wellbeing. Improve your mental health and wellbeing anywhere, at any time with these five simple actions – Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning, Take Notice and Give.

By adopting these five actions, you can manage stress more effectively and lead a happier and healthier life, benefiting yourself and those around you.

Be Active: Enjoy moving your body and improve your mood

Being active is essential for both mental and physical wellbeing. There are many ways to incorporate more physical activity into your life, whether its adding in a new activity, or incorporating some more walking into your days. The city offers many interesting options for physical activity:

  • Take a stroll, run, or bike ride outdoors in the Adelaide Park Lands paths and trails
  • If you work in the city, why not organise a lunchtime walk with colleagues
  • Practice yoga or tai chi at a city Community Centre
  • Play a round of golf at North Adelaide Golf Course

Here’s a great way to get your steps up! Explore the Fermoy on Foot Art Trail, a 2.3km curated art trail through the scenic streets, laneways, and Park Lands of North Adelaide. It’s on until Sunday, 13th of October.

Keep Learning: Be open to new experiences and opportunities to learn new things

Learning new things and regularly challenging your mind can provide a strong sense of achievement and is crucial for maintaining a sense of purpose and self-confidence.

There are plenty of opportunities to learn something new in the city:

  • Visit the Adelaide Zoo to discover things you didn’t know about the animals
  • Learn about sustainable living at the Adelaide Sustainability Centre
  • Enhance your cultural and artistic knowledge by exploring some of Adelaide’s art galleries

The city offers some really inspiring and relaxing experiences that can support you to slow down and enjoy the small things that bring you joy:

  • Find tranquillity in the Adelaide Park Lands and connect with nature by exploring the city’s gardens
  • Appreciate local art on a city street art trail
  • Bring a camera on your walk to capture interesting sights throughout the city’s streets and laneways
  • Practice meditation at a city Community Centre
