Held from March 24 to 26, 2023, the Adelaide Motorsport Festival is a museum in motion, displaying historic, rare and significant racing vehicles from the formative years of motoring to more modern motorsport cars.
Adelaide’s motorsport pedigree is unmatched, hosting the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix from 1985 to 1995 and the Adelaide 500 from 1999. The Adelaide Motorsport Festival brings together the cream of automotive history and heritage, all in a picnic-races setting around a section of the iconic Adelaide Street Circuit in Victoria Park.
The Event
The 2023 event starts with a street party in the East End on the night of Friday March 24. A high-powered parade of rare vehicles runs from Victoria Park through the city along the original grand prix track route and arrives on Rundle Street. Partygoers will mingle among the cars and stars, with live music, celebrity driver appearances, street performers and pop-up bars creating a fun and festive atmosphere.
Then, on Saturday and Sunday March 25 and 26, the Adelaide Motorsport Festival hits the track in Victoria Park. The action is fast, furious and frequently changing, with a different category of vehicles on track every 10 to 15 minutes, from legendary Formula 1 cars to historic touring cars.
Off track activities
While the action takes place on track, off-track you can enjoy fine local food, with beer, wine and spirits from local producers on the shady lawns, browse the trade stalls and check out the static displays of cars and motorcycles. It’s a rare opportunity to see a variety of exotic cars from the road and race track, getting up close to them in person and seeing them in action.
